Church of St. Sergey Radonezhsky in Milovidy
It was built of brick by contractors N. Butkovsky, Sh. Skidelsky and A.Prekhner in 1863-1867. 6,991 roubles and 69 copecks were allocated for its construction. It is an architectural monument of retrospective Russian style.
The four-piece three-dimensional spatial composition is formed by a 3-tire tetrahedral bell tower, a refectory, a nave, cross rectangular in plan, and an apse. The silhouette is dominated by the spherical dome of the bell tower. The facades are broken with arched window openings decorated with rusticated archivolts.
In 1891, a brotherhood was founded at the church, and affiliated with the church was a parochial and a primary school.
The first church in the village of Milovidy was built as far back as 1680-1682. On the initiative of the Polish noblemen Baranovsky and Korsak, a wooden Uniate church of St. Boris and Hleb was built on the outskirts of the village. Later, a church in honour of the Presentation in the Temple was built in its place. The icons from the old churches were saved and are kept in the present-day church building.
The record books of Grodno province contain the names of some priests who ran the church in Milovidy: Andrey Zhebrewvsky (1877), Antony Novitcky (1882), Vassily Kudrewcew (1888), Jacob Ilyukevicz (1909-1915).
Известно, что в церкви в Миловидах в 1931-32 гг. служил священномученик Матфей (в миру Матфей Александрович Крицук).
It is known that in 1931-1932 the church in Milavidy was run by priest-martyr Matthew (Matthew Aleksandrovich Kritsuk in the world). During the Polish statehood, the church was used as a geodetic station.
