Yasinets Water Spring
Yasinets Water Spring, a geological (hydrological) natural monument, is found near the village of Yasinets . The local people call it “Boiling water” as in summer its water is cold and in winter it remains warm.
The spring is of an ascending type found in an erosive hollow 6-7 metres deep, and which flows into the Servech River.
The surrounding country is unique in its geological and geomorphological structure. Here, in the upper reaches of the Servech River, are found Karchevo glaciodislocations formed during the Dnieper glaciation of the Quaternary Period which pushed the underlying rock forward and upward. In this area water-proof and water permeable rocks are not deposited horizontally but have considerable tilt angles. Therefore, a very rare ascending spring was formed there.
At the spring water outlet the rock is sand, gravel and pebbles.
The spring consists of 5 small water outlets forming a small pond.
The water is colourless and soft, and has a specific odour of hydrogen sulfide.
The temperature of the water is 9º Сelsius, and it belongs to the cold type of spring.
The spring is found in its natural state and is not used for economic purposes. The water there is sweet, its total salinity is 237 mg/l. The quality of the water is high, anthropogenic sources of poillution are absent.
The spring has been consecrated by orthodox church, and a cross was erected there with a prayer engaved on a plate.
